I got these two codes p0304 and p0316..it's a02 sable wagon ls , 60000 miles..i disconnected the battery and reconnected , check engine light is gone ?drove it for a couple of miles and light stayed off ...anyone has anysimilar expirience ???

 

This is actually nothing special, rather normal. When the battery is disconnected for a certain time, the memory is erased, and so are all the codes.


Unless the issue arises again (for which either the lightcame on/code was issuedin the first place), the light will stay off.


In order to avoid additional wear and tear on the battery cable, car places like AdvanceAuto or AutoZone not only do a readout for free, with the push of a button (or a few) they can reset the system.
