The mercury mariner is now at dealerships. has anyone road tested or bought one? What are your thoughts??

I bought a Mariner in March of this year and I love it but not even the dealership technician can tell me why the 4X4 won't kick in. Until I get an answer; buyers beware! I only have 3900 miles on it.
