MercAdvisor 09-16-2004, 11:18 PM I work in a linc merc dealership and i have not seen this problem at all.. i do not know of any technical service bullitins or service messages rjb53 01-18-2005, 03:07 PM WOW - I had mine in the dealer about a month ago... told him about a rattle, sounded like it was from the firewall area..... HE FIXED IT!, he said that a group of wires were hitting the side...... all he needed to do was tie them down.... I have NOT had the problem again! kushrope 01-25-2005, 10:39 AM Thanks for your replies. I'll fill you in on the problem update. In December, the shifting/noise problem became worse and the dealer replaced the solenoid and reflashed the onboard computer and the tranny shifting/noise problem went away and the Mountaineer ran great. Earlier this month, I received a TSB from Ford saying that I had to have an additive added to the transmission fluid to help correct this problem. That has been completed and the car is running better than when I bought it. Thanks again for taking the time to reply, Dave Kushner.
