I have a 1999 mercury cougor v6 i have been having problems with the car lately and had a code come up using code scanner. code P1519. However the only information i can find on that code is intake manifold runner control stuck. Ok but what does this mean. I miss the old codes where they told you what was wrong. This has got me stumped. Can any one tell me what this means and what to check.

i do not know for sure, but here is my idea...some cars, and yours may be one, have variable length intake runners which help to boost low end power without losing top end power...there is a valve of sorts inside these intakes which i believe is electronically controlled, and there may be an issue with this controller.

On the duratec motor,you will have 1 of 2 ways the runner control is opperated(also known as secondaries-a set of secondary butterflies that open under throttle in the lower intake manifold).


If it is electrically controlled,under the front cover,between radiator and intake manifold,there is a box with 3 10mm screws. That box has a wire bundle and cable that runs to the secondaries,underneath the throttlebody.


If they are vacuum controlled,follow the line from the actuator under the throttlebody back.


Usually in the case of electrical,it is a broken cable inside the box.


Usually in the vacuum,it is either 1-cracked line/vac loss or 2-bad diaphram/needs blown out and cleaned or just plain ol' replaced.
