new grand marquis owner sombody help me

i
need help with my 87 grand marquis Ls.... it has a 302 5.0L small block
V8 i need to know what to expect from this engine, what i can get out
of it, what i can add on to it, (all the after-market parts etc) i am
lost i know vary little about engines.... there isnt much i cant
understand about them i just need some help getting started.... i
bought this sh*t from a junky *** dealer.... i thought it was a
beautiful car not to mention it has a nice v8 in it and i figure that
is pritty good for my first car... i remember my parents v8's and thay
seemed pritty reliable... i dont know much so if i could get some
insight it would make my day

Well, the 302 is a good dependable motor for it's time. Of course, engines have come a long way since 87. It is a very simple engine to work on and parts availability should be pretty good thanks to the mustang. the older engines don't put out as much power per cubic inch as the newer engine designs, but it is a ver versitile platform. I hope that helps some.

good motor lots of parts for them...just intake, air intake, gt40p heads, headers and exhaust and your at 300 hp

not bad for a grandpa car..

my 1992 has 328 rwhp so she scoots.Edited by: 92mercmadman

That is one of the most popular and most modified engines of all time. Check out any Ford based publication. Almost anything that will bolt onto a 5.0 mustang engine will bolt on to yours.

Those are good cars. Helped a friend with an old 86 a few years back. He added dual exhausts to his. Had a local muffler shop do it, and the sound was awesome. That's fairly inexpensive as well.


Do a google search on various things you would consider on any car mods, and you'll find the 302 5.0L engine parts are readily available. If you don't find it under Grand Marquis, look under LTD Crown Victoria....
