Working on 91 Capri XR2-anyone out there?
My cooling fan never comes on. It's supposed to run with the key on and the AC switched on, but it doesn't. It's supposed to run with the key on if you disconnect the wire attached to the coolant switch. It doesn't.
I unplugged the fan, connected 12 volts directly and the fan runs, so it works.
The coolant fan relay works. I checked the wire connector with key on and the yellow wire shows 12.5 volts, but the yellow/green wire only shows 5.7 volts.
One other clue is that the wiring diagram shows that the AC relay is somehow integrated with the cooling fan circuit. The AC relay itself is in question because it doesn't "click" when I jumper power to it. Can that relay stop the fan circuit from working? Is the 5.7 volts a clue? This is a turbo and the wiring is different for a non-turbo engine.
I'm trying to get help with my little convertible, but no answers appear on this forum yet. Where are you enthusiast that get your hands dirty? ha ha
