Oil in #1 spark plug hole

Oil is accumulating in #1 spark plug hole and causing an engine miss. Does not appear to be comming from the valve cover and intake manifold does not look like it has any oil passages. "97" 4.6cid Grand Marquis. Anyone had this motor appart got any ideas?

sounds like a valve could be sticking or maybe the valve guide might be getting oil past it. I work on Yamaha Marine engines and they have the same heads and stuff that for uses. When we foul the 4 stroke plugs with oil its because of the valves or the guides leaking.

The oil is outside the combustion chamber in the cavity the spark plug goes in and around the outside of the spark plug.

oh ok i see. Did you get your oil changed lately? maybe the lube guy dumped some oil down there or something? if its on the outside of the spark plug i dont see why it would create a misfire. Just change the plug and get some new wires. Start you vehicle at night in the dark and look for sparks or a broken wire. do a pressure check and make sure that your fuel pump is not going out or that your fuel pressure regulator is also not going out. I have seen it where an EGR has also gone bad and has caused an engine miss.
