Default 95 Merc Sable 3.8L Won't start when warm

We have a 95 Mercury Sable wagon with a 3.8L engine. It will start and run fine when cold. After it sits hot for a while it will not start. It turns over fine. If it does start after numerous tries, it may bump like it dies for a second as your driving for a little bit but seems that once the air gets moving over the car, it's fine again till it sits.

I pulled the following codes from the OBD.
111
10
2
11

I see the definition of the 111 (makes no sense) but the other two digit codes I can't find. Anyone have any idea?

This has the ignition module on the firewall under the leaf catcher and not on the distributor. We think maybe it's the ignition module. We have not been able to determine where the PIP sender is located. From the looks of it, perhaps it is one or the other. The PIP sender is cheaper and the Ignition module is a special order item.

Thanks for reading and assisting

Floyd

first off, there is no code 10. Since they used blinking lights to read the codes before OBD-II, there are no zeros.
code 11 means system ok.
If you're using a blinking light type code reader, the 2 in the middle just indicates that's the end of the set of codes.

It does sound like an ignition module problem. It could also be a cam sensor if equipped. Finding this issue would require some test equipment (oscilloscope or complete engine diagnostic computer) and the know-how to test the things under repeated conditions. I'd try the ignition module first though.

It almost sounds like a fuel pressure regulator problem (this happens alot on GM cars). What will happen is the fuel pressure will bleed out of the fuel ring after the motor has been shut off. It usually takes excessive cranking to pressurize the fuel rail again and make it start - once it's started it runs good again.
