Transmission filter change at 48000 miles?
Hey guys. New poster here. I've had a mustang for years, but sold it as i have a growing family. Anyways I have just sold my 98 town car and bought a 01 grand marquis. I changed the fuel filter with a wix one recently, and was wondering if it makes sense to get a wix tranny filter put in at this time with fresh tranny fluid. more looking at preventative maintenance as I think it's important, but not too pricey. Or is putting a new tranny filter in at this time a little too premature?

many times it is recommended at either the 30k or 60k mark for changing that stuff... many places do trans flushes and neglect to change filter... think of doing a flush and having same old clogged filter still in place that the flushed ends up helping clog more... think of doing a oil change and not changing filter... the more often things are cleaned out the better i think... just like if you changed the rear gear oil... i would make sure you can get the fill plug out first then undo the rear cover... i would use a high grade lubricant like royal purple since it rarely ever needs changed and will help with some improvement in fuel mileage
