Should I buy it?

1991 Base Capri, 49k original, auto, has a hardtop, an 8 on a scale of 1-10. Wants only $1500. Says it needs an alternator. What should I look/watch-out for? -Brian

Rocky Mountain High -- 12,095'
49,000 original miles !??
1,500 dollars !??
GRAB IT !!
Basic stuff is important:
Don't buy cheap crap in order to "save some money".
New spark plugs -- DO NOT go by what's in there !!
Get the CORRECT spark plug for your engine.
After installing new parts, check the engine timing to be sure it's all working OK.
Oil change: 10-W-30 Full Synthetic API "SN" -- 5-W-30 for cold climate.
WIX brand Oil Filter - Change oil & filter at 5,000 miles.
TRANSMISSION: Change Transmission Fluid and Filter -- DO NOT FLUSH !!
Drop the trans pan, and clean the internal magnet.
Use Motorcraft Trans filter ONLY, and MERCON V trans fluid.
WIX Air Filter -- change yearly.
WIX Fuel Filter -- change yearly.
That's the most important stuff -- there will be more ;>)
For the BEST prices and selection of parts for your Capri, go to RockAuto.com -- it's the ONLY way to fly !!
I highly recommend BOSCH Double Iridium spark plugs.
