Hello all, I''d consider myself more or less clueless about cars. I bought a used 2000 Cougar a little over a year ago, and I''ve been extremely happy with how it''s holding up, but lately some indicator lights have been popping out.

The engine light makes sense, and through other posts I''ve found on the internet, it appears the wrench icon on the ceiling light board refers to needing an oil change. I had one pop up in my dash that looked like a stick figure with a seatbelt problem, yet nothing is wrong (at least, nothing easily apparent) with the belt.

Unfortunately, buying it used, it didn''t come with an owner''s manual. Does anyone here have an online resource of a list of indicator lights and what they mean for this particular model, or where I could find a free manual? I really don''t want to pay $6+ just to find out what a few lights mean in my car. I''ll be taking it in for repairs soon anyways, it''d just be nice to know everything that''s going on with it.

the owners manual can be downloaded from www.motorcraftservice.com

click on the owners guides link on the left and follow the prompts to enter your vehicle. then download the latest revision of the manual if there are more than one.

Thank you very much. I found exactly what I was looking for there (I guess I should have google searched a little harder before posting a question so easily answered...)

you gotta know what to search for first. I just ran across that info while searching for the manual to my 88. unfortunately they don''t have manuals for vehicles older than 96 for download, so I had to shell out $35 to get the paperwork for mine.
