2001 mercury cougar EGR problem
 

I bought this 2001 Cougar about 7years ago but a few years back my engine light came on for an EGR malfunction. So far I have changed the EGR pressure sensor which one of the vacuum nipples was broke but that didnt fix it. Need to know what else runs the EGR and get it fixed? In cold weather this car runs like total crap, the car tries to stall out and MPG is suffering. With gas prices like they are now and are suppose be rising I would at least like to get this fixed.

I saw that you had a 2001 Cougar. I just bought my second cougar my first one was a 2000. Can you tell me if the 2001 come from the factory with the astray? I thought this one was just missing so I ordered a new one from Ford but it dont fit. So I'm trying to find out if the 2001 was a option.

Yeah mine has an ash tray just under the radio.
