Greetings. I have a 1999 Cougar V6 5 speed. For some reason, the clock does not keep time when the ignition is off. It only works when the ignition is on and when the car is running. I''ve replaced the battery and the alternator is good.

Also, the dome lights do not work at all. It doesn''t matter if the car is running or not. This includes the setting where the interior lights are supposed to stay on for 12 sec after shutting the car off. That doesn''t work either.

Can anyone provide any clues for me? Thanks.

I won''t even get started about how Ford Motor Company discontinued the upper, right motor mount for this model and NONE are available anywhere. . . . . .

is there an alarm or was ther one on the car? look and see if this had an alarm at one time and they powered it to the lights. when they took the alarm off they couild of crossed the wires.

no, there was never a special alarm. Just the standard "panic button"
and factory alarm. It was never taken out. I''ve owned the car since it was new and there haven''t been any changes. Thanks though.

is this an aftermarket radio?

no. same. No problems with the radio. The clock is above the odometer in the instrument cluster.
