More 90 cougar issues
My car started having this problem of starting hard several weeks ago. It turns over but faster than normal. I recently had the fuel pump in the gas tank replaced along with a new fuel filter. I thought I was having a leaking fuel injector because sometimes there would be a puff of gray smoke coming out of the exhaust that would smell like gas. I got the fuel rail out and turned over the engine, but no fuel injectors leaked so no luck there. Could a faulty ignition module cause this hard starting problem? I do have 80K miles on this rebuilt motor maybe spark plug wires and plugs are due, along with distributor cap and rotor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
i would do the same thing do the basics first it could be one of the plugs fould out and not sparking right. after that if it did it again i would check if the egr or the fuel perssure is ok i think it might be both the fuel pressure regulator could go bad and fould out some thing or not burning when the plugs not burning the extra fuel. i would do the spark plugs first. then see what happens my favorit plugs to use is e3 because i noticed a better performance as well as better aconomy out of my v8

Found the problem. It was the fuel pressure regulator. A friend mentioned it may be the problem, I changed it and it fixed the issue. Thanks for the reply!
