No luck with a search here. Any idea where to get a Proportioning Valve (Brakes) for an ''86 Cougar. The part is obsolete. Not very good at searching for parts but, I tried searching for a used part with no luck. Would any other Mfg. part work in it''s place? Thanks Peter

Yes, there are aftermarket parts. you might have to bend a few lines to make it fit because they are not exact replacement parts. here are a few. you can also do a search on mustang parts for that year. they will also fit

Jason,

Thank you. I will look into your lead and mentionit to my mechanic. How would you know what other valves would work even with the need to bend a few lines? What would we look for? I was thinking that looking for used ''83-''86 Cougars and T-Birds would expand my possibilities also. Wouldn''t that be logical?

Again,Thank You. PeterF.

you can get used ones from these or order new ones. make sure it is what you want before getting it. take a picture of yours or just bring the old one in.Edited by: jason sereiko

I hope the list helps.

I would just do the aftermarket thing if you have a mechanic and can not find the part.

I assume you are looking for a new part with the other cars. Make sure you get the correct one because some cars or trucks, came with tow packages and some did not. they would have different parts. so would a 4 banger compared to a small block

let me know if this worksEdited by: jason sereiko
