1990 Cougar cruise control issues

I have no cruise control when I push the buttons on the steering wheel. I checked the vacuum lines to the cruise mechanism and have it there. I put a test light on the wires to the cruise control in the driver's side fender well. I have no voltage there. I followed the wires across the front of the car and to another plug in. I checked the voltage there and nothing there. The wires then look like they go into the firewall from there. What can I try next. Should I look at the brake cruise control switch? Any help is appreciated.

I had a buick regal grand sport with that engine in it. i had that problem with mine. in my case the oil pump was malfunctioning and it caused my engine to basically blow up. get it fixed, don't drive it around like that like my wife did.
