I need help. My ac/heater is only blowing air out when I have it set on the high setting. I have been told it could be the motor blower resistor and/or the motor blower. Any ideas? Also, does any one know where those are located? Does anyone have an ac diagram to show me? Any help is appreciated,Thanks! |
Id say im 99% sure you have a bad resistor. Its behind the glove box near the blower motor. Id say check with your dealer some of those vehicles had a recall on the resistor im not sure which years it was though .

i have checked with the dealer but no recalls on my vehicle. i read apost on the ford forum where this guy seemed to have the same problem. he saiditwasn't the resistor, itwas dirty/melted contacts in the plug. what is that? and how do i fix it without taking it to the dealer and it cosing me a fortune? if it is the resistor, how do i fix that? i won't be the one fixing it, my boyfriend will be doing it. but any information on how to do it would be real helpful. Thanks! |
I have seen the plug to the motor or resistor melt also . The parts are actually realtivly cheap it wouldnt hurt to put on both. IF you got to a ford or linc merc dealer and explain what your looking for im sure the parts advisor you get should be able to help you relativly easily.

you need a low speed fan switch.

There is also a fusible link under the drivers cowl panel(panel outside under windshield wiper) that has 2 red wires going to 1. I know that 98/99 had problems with these after the recall on the blower motor resistor pack was replaced.
