I have a 2002 sable with about 38K on it. Today I noticed as the car was idling that it was missing pretty badly. I filled up yesterday and previous to that the car was running fine. I decided to head for home and as I was going home on the acceleration ramp the check engine light came on flashing and then turned off again. The car continued to miss and drive poorly. Any ideas?

have the codes read. it could be a LOT of things. there could be lack of fuel, lack of air, lack of spark. if the air filter hasn''t been changed in some time, that may need to be changed. The fuel filter may need to be changed. it could just be bad gas. a bottle of heat might fix that. The codes will definitely give us a good idea of what to pursue. Autozone will read the codes for free.

Did you get the codes read? that would help narrow the issues down. and may be something that''s easy to fix.

It was the ignition coil... $450 later that''s fixed... I then get it home go out to start it and it won''t come out of park. So back it goes and now the wire thing or something (sorry I''m a girl I can''t remember what it was called) that attaches to the break and the fuse for the break is messed up... Another $250 grrrrr
