Hi everybody! Not sure what my car is doing, i have 80,000 miles on it, and it has been acting weird. The emissions light has not gone off in months. I assumed this was due to the fuel gage being off. It does not show an accurate read. The car seems to get sluggish when i am going about 25-35 miles an hour, it feels like i am sputtering back and forth a bit. Sunday morning i turned the car on and the emissions, or engine light, began flashing and the whole car was shaking! Ugh!! It has not happened since then. i wonder if i should just take it in? Any help would be great. Thanks! *Stephanie

not sure what you mean. im such a ditz about cars, sorry for my stupidity. I am moved out of my parents home now and trying to take care of things on my own! Anyways, i thought about going to Autozone after workand having them hook that machine up to it and see if it can tell me anything. trouble is, i dont even no if that willl help, but it is worth a try!

on every vehicle, 1996 or newer, there is an on board diagnostics (OBDII) system. when the check engine light comes on, if you take it to a shop, they will plug a computer into it, it will tell them a code that explains why the light is on.

thanks for the info. i took it in and they said the first cylinder is misfiring, so we changed the coil pack and the wires. it seems to be better, hoepfully that was it.
