90 Cougar Dashboard Lights

what is it with the ignitio n switch that needs to be "jiggled" to make the dash lights go on? what's the fix? Thanks

sounds like a dirty contact. take it out and hose the electrical contacts with contact cleaner and put it back in. should fix it right up. getting it out however may be a trick. if the steering column has a hole that doesn't have a screw in it near the bottom of the ignition switch, pushing some rod (screwdriver, etc) into it with the key in the neutral position may release the ignition from the housing. then you can just hose that puppy off with the contact cleaner. then again, the contacts may be on the back of the housing itself and may require taking the steering column covers off. I can't remember which it usually is.
