My 97 Mountianeer will not lock into drive when you put in gear. Reverse is fine and once it locks in it shifts fine. The warmer you get the atf the better it gets. I have just put a new transfer case in due to previous owner running mismatched tires, and had new filter and seals installed in trans. (Converter appered fine)Wondering if a pump or pressure problem? There are no codes showing up on a scaner. Any info would be greeatly appreciated thanks |
have you checked the fluid while warm? Dont know where you are located but up here in the north, that is very common to happen until the trans and motor get to proper temp. How long ago was trans work done and converter looked at? Sometimes when the converter gets inspected the fluid level has to catch back up.Edited by: Lenny |
The fluid is new and level correct, trans just installed two weeks ago. I am in Virginia so not all that cold. Even when it warms up it still doesn't lock in correctly. thanks for the reply |
I would be taking to whomever did the work and explain whats going on.My immediate concearn(based on what you've states)is the valve body and bands.
