I have owned the car since 2001 and have had no issues with the remote keyless entry until last week. I have two remotes that always worked, and I have and use the keypad on the door on a daily basis.

Both remotes no longer respond to the car. In addition, the OneTouch Down of the driver window no longer works. The keypad on the driver's door will let me enter the car.

I have done the following:
Replaced batteries in both remotes
Checked and replaced all fuses
Attempting to reprogram remotes (unfortunately, 98 is the only model year that requires a service tech to do it)
Called the nearest dealership and was told my car was too old.

I am wondering if my remotes went bad? Or if the module went bad? I think it hasn't if the keypad on the door still operates.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I am at a loss and would enjoy if this feature started working again!

 

After taking the door panel off and pulling the plugs and re-plugging them, the problem is resolved.
