Cruise Control Light

Good Evening:

I have a 2008 Grand Marquis LS. When I turn my cruise control on, the light does not work until it is actually set. The other cars I have show when cruise control is just switched on.

Is this normal or is there a way to set the light where it comes on when cruise control is just switched on?

What does the owners' manual say ? Functions change from year to year. Ford giveth and Ford taketh away.

Cruise Control Light is a feature that allows a driver to maintain a set speed without having to press the accelerator pedal. It is activated when the driver presses the cruise control button on the steering wheel or dashboard. The system uses sensors to detect the speed of the vehicle and then adjusts the throttle to maintain the set speed. The driver can adjust the set speed by pressing the accelerator or brake pedal. Cruise control light will turn on when the system is active and will turn off when the system is deactivated.
