Default doing a burnout through the gears up to 3rd?

is it ok to do in my auto tranny and (91) 302 marquis. When doing a burnout in D my car has no problem shifting right up to 2nd and 3rd while sitting there roasting the tires. just wondering if its ok for the trans because that way i can pull a rolling burnout and lay rubber while still moving actual speed of 80km/h for a long strip of rubber.

those trannys were built to take somewhere between 400 and 500 HP... so I don't think it will burn up the trans by doing that.... unless you roast the fluid in the process. it would have the same affect as going down the highway with the radiator partly covered. Lack of airflow would eventually cause the fluid to overheat. You will cause additional wear to the clutches and bands from the harsh use (heavy acceleration). as long as you don't do numerous burnouts consecutively, I don't see the harm to the trans. now the brakes and tires are another story.
