2004 GRAND MARQUIS, WHEN I ACCELERATE I GET A KNOCKING SOUND. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE PROBABLE CAUSES ARE?? |
upper or lower of the motor??
Most likely a rod knock, the original Mercury 4.6 in my grand marquis had a hard rod knock, the idiot before me ran er low on oil for about 300 miles. Not good. did you run it low on oil, go way over on a oil change?? reply ill help ya with this... but if she does end up needing a new motor get the interceptor motor(NO GOVERNER)thats what i did in mine... let me know!! -CheersEdited by: 92mercmadman |
could be pinging type knock you have which would be timing. could be what 92mercmadman said also. try 10w30 or 10w40 with some Lucas or something and see if i helps.

Only under acceleration? What about at idle? Is it definatley a knock and not pinging? How many miles on the car? Let me know.

Try a higher octane gas (93) and see if the knock goes away.< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-45";
