I recently had to replace the front gears and housing on my 02 Mountaineer , it is awd . The problem I am having now is, after I drive for an hour or more it has blown the fliud out of the front gear housing that I had replaced. I hope this makes sense to someone! Has anyone else experienced front end problems on the awd of their Mountaineer?

something''s not put together properly. is there a leaky gasket? a fill hole not plugged?

If the housing is not cracked, it sounds like a gasket issue. There are many on the front differential.

I have the counterpart, Explorer, and had the entire driveline rebuilt. During this process, the shop discovered that one of the front axles was not installed properly, the seal was not evenly inserted.

This never caused an issue, till the ControlTrac (automatic AWD) kicked in. Then I suddenly had a fluid leak, due to the force applied to the front differential.

Greetings!

After further evaluation it appears that the front end is building up pressure and then it blows the fluid out of the vent hole on the housing . Anyone have any idea what could be causing this ?
