I own a 1994 Grand Marq. thrid one. About a week ago I noticed head light flashing after touching brake pedal. Now after I shut car off I hear a clicking sound coming from under dashboard then lose all power. No restart no lights no radio just clicking. Help, please, trip planed for Miss in less than two week.

the clicking is probably the over-amp timer (kills the power system for about 20-30 seconds after a low voltage start) that prevents you from burning up the starter. sounds like the battery is weak or has dropped a cell and with the lower voltage, the car acts up. also, get the alternator and voltage regulator tested. make sure they're not just draining the battery.

Also, check the battery terminals to make sure they are good and tight and not corroded. if they are remotely loose (any wiggling is possible without moving the battery too) they will not allow the battery to be charged properly.

Question

Did you find out what the problem was? Was Slymer right?
