Help -- need shifter cable
Can ANY-1 PLEASE HELP me locate a shift cable for a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer (OEM# F87Z7E395DA)?
I've called the dealer & was told the part is OBSOLETE AS OF 4/2009!! NO DEALER IN THE COUNTRY SEEMS TO HAVE THIS. I have already tried salvage yards, ebay, local transmission places (here in Chicago) -- NO LUCK! Please help if u can!! -- I find it crazy that Ford would stop making a part for 1 of the top selling SUV's ever (99-01 Explorer). Thanks!! RW |
I am baffled that you cannot get that through the dealer. Have you tried a regular parts place or trans shop? There has got to be a bone yard with a '00 'neer in it somewhere. If you keep searching the net, maybe E-Bay?, you should find it. Someone should be able to tell you where after a couple more people read this post. I will research it a little in the meantime. Is the cable snapped?

No - it's not snapped, but it's stretched so much that I can't adjust it to get normal functionality of my gear shift -- (I can get it in D but not P OR get it in P but no R). :(
I've tried Ebay & Craigslist & about 50 different transmission palces. A buddy of mine works in Ford corporate - he tells me it was JUST discontinued in April/09 -- probably due to lay-offs. Thanks 4 any help!! |
car-parts.com has many things that can benefit hard to find things.
