Hi,

Bought Hanes Manual for Grand Marquis 99, can't find where is located the Oil Pressure Sensor, look over the internet for other vehicle, some says it'snext to the oil filter, some says it's close to the firewall in the passenger side. Please help. Reason : intermittent oil pressure light come one when car is cold. Will do an oil/filter change soon. Hope is not caused by the oil pump. car has 170000km.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the pump is o.k.(The engine is not seized) There is the screen to think about though. I would think the oil pres. sensor would be threaded into the side of the block right below the exhaust manifold. The viscosity of oil is thickest when it is cold, hence the pressure light(more commonly called a dummy light)Maybe try a lighter oil weight. Let me know.

Changed oil 5W30 (Mercury recommends 5W20) and filter last weekend, found the pressure sensor closed to the oil filter underneath. No more intermittent oil pressure light except it take some time (few minutes) to turn off. May be oil pump gets lazy when cold (-15 degree Celcius or 5 degree F). So far no noises from valves means oil pump is functionning. Hope I don't have to end up servicing the oil pump. Will change theoil pressure switch before that. Will keep you informed.
