I had a few ideas on how to change the appearance of our cruiser, for very little money.


I finally started to get them out of my head and onto the road. I will post them here, in case you like one or the other.


This one only works with the '92 to '94 models and has to do with the parking lights in the bumper.


Each of the lights on this particular model contains 2 bulbs. The outer one is a 3157 in amber, which functions as parking light and turn signal. The inner one is a916 in amber, strictly acting as a parking light.


If turned on, it looks like this (that would be "before"):

Pretty dull, uh? Okay, so now the idea was to trade the inner bulbs for clear white ones. I actually bought bright white LED's, which have an incredible bright output.

How is that for a change? I paid $10 for the LED bulbs.


Unfortunately, they have a very intense blue hint to it, thus the package said "white" (the offer blue ones as well).


I have seen clear white ones, but haven't found them in this size yet.


Anyway, I took them out (looks cheesy, like from the diaper gang) and put regular white bulbs in them.


It still changes the appearance quite a bit. And thanks to the amber marker lights in the fender, it wont be mistaken for an Asian vehicle.


Next posting will be for the rear of the car. Doesn't involve any lights, thus color plays a major role. And again, will only work with '92 to '95 models.


e fenders, the confusion with any Asian car is less likely.

Now youhave fog lights!!. I do like the results. The parking lights will now be more visible to on-comers. Yes, of the white LED's do have a blue cast. They are actually a blue LED with a yellow filter which should yield a white light - almost. I going to look at my front lights and see if I could change somethingtoLED's.

Yeah, so to speak. However, there's a lot of reflection from the garage door in the picture.


There are white LED's out there, plain white, not touch of blue or whatever.


I found a couple at a local auto store, unfortunately, they are too big. Many of them, especially the cheaper ones, have larger electronics in them (cheaper to manufacture than advanced micro-technique).


The openings for the bulbs on these models is very narrow, so larger bulbs wont fit.

Hm, your comment about "fog lights", of course the plug for the bulb could be cut and one for i.e. a 3157 bulb fit in, to accommodate a brighter bulb.


But then I would go for a H3 right away, and I can see the plastic reflector melting soon.

It certainly makes it appear differently. And I personally like the clear parking lights, go well with the white vehicle color.


Am currently experimenting with the tail lights, have a few things in mind. Will work for all vehicles. I like the appearance of Cadillacs, with the pure LED taillights. Am trying to get the same effect. Would look cool.

Oh heck yea, those cadillac LED's are way too cool. Always thought it would be sweet to see LEDs on the back of the MGM's (98-05) between the main taillights since they dont light up at all.

Yeah, I found some LED's, on a plain board. But I have to take of the red part of the inlet between the taillights first to see if and how something would fit.
