1985 Mercury Marquis Brougham
I do know this is in the Grand Marquis section, but I cannot find anywhere else to help me with my car's problem.
Since October, my car has developed a problem in starting. It literally does not warm itself up and has no cold start. I have replaced both the idle control motor and coolant temperature sensor. The engine is a 3.8L V6 and it is CFI. Orginally, the idle control motor did fix a problem with the car always idling too high, then the cold start issue started about a week after I put in the new motor. I have taken note that the vacuum to the motor on the air intake to direct the vent down to the headers is now nonexistant. I was under the impression the the computer thought the engine was warm from false readings of the coolant sensor, but that is not the case. I am now thinking that it could be the air temp sensor? Anyone got any suggestions or info on Ford 80's fuel injection cold starts? Thanks. |
cold starting issues can be caused from needing plugs, wires, cap and rotor kit and even fuel filter restricting fuel from engine like a friends car is doing...
