Hello, I'm new to these forums. I just acquired a 1987 Grand Marquis that is equipped with the 5.0L engine, and has 59,000 original miles. Anyhow, I'm wondering... does this particular version of the 5.0L share the hydraulic roller valve train and forged pistons as found in the 5.0L HO engine in the Mustang? While the engine runs well, it does not seem to have the RPM capability of the HO engine, so I'm thinking that the camshaft is likely a shorter-duration profile to increase torque for the heavy vehicle. Anybody know what the factory cam spec's are for this engine? Last, it looks like the engine bay has plenty of room... would a set of 5.0L Mustang shorty headers fit this vehicle??

Additionally, does anybody know if the rear axles feature 28 or31 splines in this vehicle?
