1992 ABS r/r?
 

1992 Mercury Grand Marquis, 50,000 miles. ABS light turned on 3 weeks ago. Intermittent -on then off. Recently when it came on I would notice a "stutter", felt a rumble when on the highway, then it would stop after a few miles (3-4). Then I started to notice that I could smell rear brakes. Talked to a mechanic and he said if the the ABS sensor on the rear brakes. I took the rear sensors off the wheel and sprayed them with brake cleaner, blew out the sensor hole and reassembled both rear sides. I took the car for a ride and the light stayed off for a few miles and then came back on. I took out the main ABS fuse to shut the ABS system off. I tried to do the same cleaning on the front ABS sendors but I could not get the sensor off the wheel hub. Is there a special way to get sensors off the front wheels so that I can try to clean them? Or any other suggestions that I might do to try to fix the problem?
