1992 Grand Marquis

I was thinking about overhauling my diff and getting a new driveshaft and doing a little engine work on my 92. Do you guys think it would be a good idea does anyone know anyone that has done it before? i was told that the motors on this have head gasdket problem and i dont wanna do all this work and put alot of money into a car that thatll die soon. Car has about 180,xxx miles on it.

92 is a 4.6L? Them engines are bullit proof. As long as you change the oil they will last forever. We had a customer at work with 440k on his 4.6 and then it took a dump.

Before you do anything make sure you don't have a 4.6 known as a bastard block. These only fit with the old AOD and not with the AODE or 4r70w. If this is your case and you want more power you either need to change to a newer engine and transmission or swapping in a ford 302 or 351. These are Ford's 5.0 engines.
