1995 Grand Marquis Transmission issues

I have a 1995 Marquis and some pretty bad tranny problems..
It slips pretty bad from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gear. If you accelerate quickly, it doesn't slip at all. I was wondering if there was any factory defects or maybe some tips that anyone could give me. Also, should I get a rebuild?

No defects that I am aware of. Over 200,000 miles on my 96 without issue.

Yes.... Rebuild.

Do you have any transmission codes showing on a scan? Solenoid malfunctions; valve body problems are common issues. Have you tried changing the fluid - Mercon V, including the converter? There was a TSB about 3-4 shudder and problems suggesting a complete fluid/filter change. Play around with the overdrive switch off see if there is differences.

It's better when you put it into overdrive, I did a tranny filter+fluid change a while back. It didn't seem to help much. Also I haven't been able to get it on a code reader but i'm getting a diagnostic this week. Solenoid malfunctions would make sense, it got struck by lightning. Thank-you by the way
