1998 Grand Marquis -- No Rear Struts?

Hello guys. I own a 98. Im sure everyone knows they feel like boats (well, they all feel like boats, maybe cept the 03+). I was thinking of installing bilstein HDs or tokicos to improve the handling. The other day I looked underneath and i was surprised to find that there are no rear struts on it - just springs. It has struts in the front, but only springs in the back. Is that normal or did the previous owner screw something up? Thanks

it should have shocks not struts at all all 4 corners... if you wanna improve handling, swap out the sway bars with police issued ones since they are bigger and handle corners better

thank you. say, would my ford dealer have the interceptor sway bars, or id have to junk yard or ebay them?

junkyard would be best bet and cheaper than going to the stealership

from what I have worked on these cars it should have struts in the front ans shocks in the back.
