2000 GM Shocks, self leveling suspension
 

I have 2000 GM w/ handeling option and air leveling suspension. I need advice what sock will work with this opton. I prefer good handeling shocks but most shock listings omit rear air suspension options. The handeling suspension uses higher rate springs so it would require a heavy damped shock.

I would contact the dealer and see what part # they replace it with and see if you can cross reference the # to a aftermarket brand. I'd go with SensaTrac's if you don't want to use genuine Ford parts. With your air suspension w/the handling option I would go with genuine Ford parts.

I found that the gabriel ultra is better than the sensatracs on my 93 vic. Much better handling and less bouncing. but again, this is for non-air setups.

personally, air ride stuff is a moneypit. they work good but as soon as repairs are necessary, prepare to drain the wallet.

i have had a few friends with air rides and the shocks got blown out, or the compressore quit. got tired of high dollar parts and swapped stuff out with regular springs and shocks. if it were me, i would put in cargo coils and some longer throw type shocks to raise the rear of the car some. that way if you do carry a heavier load at some time, the car will handle it.

my girlfriends car was loaded in trunk and barely sagged in the rear with half the trunk filled with pavers. i have her car setup with waggin' springs in the rear whch gives it a slight rake empty, or lets yhou handle hauling duties.

I know what you're saying. I tend to see alot of 90's Lincoln Continentals sitting on the ground with blown air suspensions.
