Honestly, you shouldnt have anything to worry about if you keep up on regular maintenance.

That motor should go a honest 80 thousand more without any major issues. Just make sure to keep up on engine, trans, and rear end lube and your set to go.

If ya dont mind me asking what did ya pay for the beast?

We have "pool cars" at work. One is a 03 CV. It has 140k (hard miles too)on it now. Most of its life it had very minimal maintenance. I took charge of it a few months back and had a mechanic I know go all over the beast. Outside of plugs and filters, he said it was in great shape. Still runs fine. and rides pretty good too. People take it on interstae trips all the time. Only problem it had was leaking axle seal once.


The engine runs like new. Change the oil, and 3000 miles later it still looks like it came out of the bottle yesterday. We ahve had off-and-on complaints of the dreaded torque converter shudder, but a good tranny flush (I assume the TC too) cured 80 - 90% of it.


As he said, take care of the fluids and lubes and Ill bet it will last forever.</>

the newer Panther platform has better suspension and work put into it. in any way you look at it, it is still a body on frame setup. same basic frame design as what was under these cars back when the Panther platform was started in 1979. about the best things about your car would be the updated and bigger brakes, better suspension, and more responsive handling. these cars last forever if taken care of properly. early generation 4.6L (1992-1995 or so) had the issue of the valve seals going bad causing blue exhaust and also up until they changed the setup of the lower intake. lower intakes on the aero body style had issues of holes wearing into the lower intake since the were plastic which was later changed and made of aluminum where the problem was. i prefer the pushrod engine of the 5.0L they had in these cars that ran from 1986-1991.
