2003 Grand Marquis GS cruise control light?

My 2003 has no light in the dash to show if cruise is on or not nor do the controls on the steering wheel illuminate. Is this how it should be? Thanks for any help....

I have thr same issue and dont know if its correct? Have u figured this out?
