'88 Grand Marquis - 3 Alternators in a month... WHY?!

I have an '88 Grand Marquis with 71k miles. I bought it about 5 months ago. About one month ago, the alternator went. While switching it, I broke my power steering pump (which leaked and was on it's last leg anyway) so I swapped that too.

Then, only two weeks later, the new alternator goes. I figured I just had bad luck and bought a defective alternator. I got another one for free and put it in, then replaced the battery, AND the terminals just in case. Thought my problems were gone.

Drove fine for another two weeks, but last night, my alternator seems to have gone AGAIN. The only thing I can think of that is problematic, is when doing my power steering pump, I didn't press the pulley onto the pump enough so it does slip a bit. I need to get that taken care of, but it only slips when I'm driving slow and making a really sharp turn.

Any ideas?! I'm running out of money and my knowledge only goes so far.
