hi i have a 97 mgm it has automatic door locks and when ever i start the car the doors lock by them selfs and i have been locked out quite a few times due to this i was woundering if anyone knows how i can get them to stop locking when ever the car is turned on?

They should lock when the car is put into gear. Keep a spare on the car with one of those magnetic key boxes until you figure it out. Did it just start doing it out of the blue?

My locks did not automatically loch when started or put in gear. I install a remote lock so that I could locl and unlock the car with out the key. This could be one way of getting around your problem.

Doesn't yours have a key pad on the door? I think on the older cars (I know my 98 has it), they put a sticker in the trunk on the trunk lid arm with the OEM code to unlock it. If you read the manual, it will also tell you how to setup a custom code that you can remember.

I have a 98 and an 06. Both have the keypads. I use them frequently. I leave my car sit while running a lot when I stop for coffee in the mornings and the keypad is nice to lock/unlock in those types of instances.Edited by: olds97_lss
