I recently purchased a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis. The previous owner shipped it across the US, and after arriving at the new location, the radio and pump for the windshield washer fluid stopped working. I checked the radio fuses (by the driver's seat and under the hood), and they are all fine. Other suggestions? Is the radio just dead? When I turn the headlights on, the radio buttons all light up, but the screen doesn't light at all nor does it function at all. I checked the connector in the back, and it seems that power is coming through ok.

 

I can tell you that the lights for the radio are on the same circuit as the headlights/dashlights, and will dim with the dimmer control. The radio is probably no good. Since you checked for power that would be my conclusion. Good luck.
