color of antifreeze in 1997 GM

I have just purchased a 97 Grand Marquis LS with 148,xxx. Previous owner replaced lower intake with the upgraded metal and composite. The question I have is what color antifreeze should this car be running for this model year? Did Ford do the Dexcool stint like General Motors? I have always seen green in my Fords but this is not green antifreeze.

What is everyone running in there 4.6? Thank you! Tim:confused:

green is really good but i always go with the shellzone elc in my cars(red) mainly because it is premixed and that is the longest lasting on the trucks i work on but those are disels (18 wheelers like petes and freightliners) if i'm wrong or misguided some one please let me know

Well, I am finding the antifreeze was probably green at one time, similar to a 2001 Ford Widstar I worked on. I know this antifreeze in the Grand Marquis cannot be too old due to the intake change. I dont know why these newer cars turn the antifreeze brown like this. My older cars have never had this problem
