Coolant in engine

Hello all…

just picked up an’89 MGM colony park wagon. Kid I bought it from said he was driving home from the person he bought it from when “it started smelling funny, then stopped running.”

from there he towed it home and it sat since august of this year

I immediately dove into it, and discovered all 8 cylinders had coolant in them. So obviously the intake manifold is where the breach is, as there is no coolant in the engine oil.

the question I’m having is if I should pull the top end off and see what happened, or just get a crate engine and call it a day. I’m a bit concerned that there may be damage further down (several tablespoons of water was ejected from the #4 cylinder when I pulled the plugs)

prior to pulling the plugs a cranked the engine only to find it turning over slowly. My main concern is a bent rod.

thoughts on this?
