The forum was of great help in finding the location of the DFPE sensor on my 01 Grand Marquis. I understand from searching the internet that this sensor going belly up is a BIG problem for all models. I have been driving around with the Check Engine light on all summer, and now its time to deal with the problem. Let's see if changing the sensor does the trick. I will keep you posted.
