Hi There
I''m thinking to buy a MGM 2005: somebody knows, if it''s possible to run
this car with E85?
Or is it possible to make some changes to this engine, to use E85 fuel?

Thanks for your advice
Gian

Why would you want to change it? You would never get the money back in fuel savings for the cost of converting it.

Also e85 is cheaper but you get less MPG''s with it. So in reality you are not saving as much as you think. Yes, you are saving some moneybut the Mpg''s are slightly worse .really when you do the math it is not that much of a difference from a non e85 carespecially if you convert a car to it. The best thing is make sure you have a new fuel filter, air filter and a good set of plugs. Top of the line spark plugs have been shown to give you better mileage then e85.

keep the money from the e85 conversion and buy the car as it is. it is a great car.

Thanks Jason
It''s not only a Fuel or Money-Saving Idea, it''s mostly a enviromental thing.
Runnig an engine with E85 is CO2 neutral, so it''s better than driving a Prius,
despite the worser mpg. I live in a country where E85 is a waste-product
from the paperindustry, so it is really an "intelligent fuel"... :-)

It''s only an LS, no GS, so I''m not happy that this car has no heating for the
Seats... I''am still thinking on it...

I understand about the enviroment. it is actually good to see people care enough about this planet. Thanks for being a good steward.

Are you able to get the fuel cheaper were you are from? yes there are kits for these cars. it is mainly a recaliburation of the computer and different injectors along with someother small fuel lines and stuff.

usually if it is E85 capable, it is marked in the fuel door area. E85 is about 50-75 cents cheaper a gallon compared to stuff with no ethanol or 10% ethanol. living in Nebraska, there are lots of cars that use E85 yet my cars are to old for this. E85 eats up fuel lines and regular steel fuel tanks also compared to new stuff that has plastic.

I live in Switzerland, and E85 is 25% cheaper than normal gas. Since the
mileage is worse, there is not much Moneysaving. But if there is much less
pollution, it will be an option to keep in mind.

Thanks to 87CrownVic, I will surely check th fuel door area, that''s a good
advice.

Yes, the swiss are up on pollution. You guys have one of the cleanest countries in the world and very beautiful. You guys also provided our country with some top mensvolleyball players in the olympics. I say get the e85 done to the car.

Are you capable of doing this work yourself?

I think that it would be cool to post a sep by step do it yourself way to convert to e85. if anyone wants to help out with this let me know.

I''m going to have a look on this car next sathurday.
It''s a white 2005 MGM GS with 35000mls. It has a brown Vinyl Rooftop (only
over the backseats) and an fake oldstyle chrome baggage holder over the trunk,
an a white leather interior.

Do you have any advice on the car? On what I have to put my attention,
checking it.
It seems to be "near new", but I''m sure, you have some nice advice for me.

Sorry for asking stupid things, but Mercury is not present in Switzerland, so I
have nobody to ask around here. Thanks.
