I have a 1991 Grand Marquis GS. 5.0L V8, great car. Only 42k miles.
Runs like a dream, no huge problems. I'm 18, and this isnt the type of
car that a kid my age usually drives. Its not exactly cool. I want to
upgrade the exhaust. I have a 302 V8 and its more quiet than my
brothers 4-banger...not cool. =p. I dont know much about exhaust
systems.

Is there a company that makes a kit for a large bore exhaust that'll
make my car sound a lot better (I guess that means louder). Or if not, what steps would I take to get a custom one made?

I appreciate the help. Thanks.

you can go to your local muffler shop and they can hook you up with a bad-ass sounding exhaust. not too expensive either for a muffler that will make your 302 sound much better.

Your 302's dual exhaust will perform best when fitted with 2-inch pipes - a larger diameter than 2-inch I.D. will DECREASE power at the low and mid-range rpms, due to the loss of exhaust gas scavenging.
Dual 2-inch pipes will support 320 horsepower, which is more than you'll ever get out of a 302 without A LOT of expensive modifications.
The bottom line is that exhaust pipe diameters are determined by the size (cubic inches) of the engine, and your 302 is right on target for 2-inch pipes.
I suggest that you get a pair of MAGNAFLOW glasspacks -- they have a perforated-core, straight-through design with NO LOUVERS that actually restrict exhaust gas flow.
The MagnaFlows are cheaper and lighter than the popular (and noisy) FlowMasters, and they will deliver as much power as the MasterFlows in the rpm range that you will encounter with your Grand Marquis.
I made my Grand Marquis dual exhaust system with a Walker H-pipe, a pair of MagnaFlow glasspacks, and Walker tailpipes.
Bought the pipes and mufflers at Amazon.com, and had it all welded-up at "MufflerMasters", Avondale, AZ.
A beautiful V-8 rumble, with no ear-busting noise that alarms the cops and pisses off the neighbors
