F***KING Vandals Stole My Hood Ornament Again!!
Hey guys this is the 3rd time that some one had nicked the ornament from my hood. I got the car without one so i got another at a scrap yard and just made it stay with some wire but how do i install one the proper way do i take out the grill?? thanks

there's a nut underneath holding it all together. There should be a spring that the ornament clips to (down through and around the other end actually). I think removing the nut will allow it all to come up and out of the front cowl. At least that's the way it looks on my 88 MGM.
you are correct... under the fiberglass where the hood ornament is, there is a tin nut. i use pliers since it isnt hard to twist off and loosen. after the nut is off, the whole hood ornament assembly comes right out.
great thanks at least it will be harder for them to pull it out then just holding it with wire
cant believe some one would steal a hood ornament...
I can't believe someone would steal the dullard of a hood ornament that's on our cars.
i have the one from the 89' grand marquis and the ornament from the 85' MGM that looks like the lincoln symbol and the one from the old LTD's thats rectangular with a triangle in it but they dont fit in the hole quite right.
mine dont have one....
You'd probably have to resize the hole to fit ornaments from other body styles.
feeling devilish?
run some current through it from the battery! see how the jerks like that. 8)

that's only slightly illegal (actually rather illegal). There should be no part of the car that can deliver sustained shock or some such nonsense. I had the idea of putting a cattle prod transformer under the hood and attaching the output to the hood ornament, but I was advised against it due to the laws. That's here in Texas, so check your local laws out to see.

Hahaha that would be funny, at night you just hear people screaming
then there's the revenge factor. you shock the heck outta someone and they like to slash your tires.
of course you could always rig a switch up to the hood ornament that would honk the horn if it gets pulled on. Would definitely scare the pants off the vandals the first time. I'd set up a switch for this so it could be disabled though. Don't want it going off incessantly at the car wash. |
