I hope some can help with this one......

I have a 2000 GM LS /w 73k on it. It has the most annoying squeaking noise coming from the front of he car. It sounds like its coming from the top of the hood. I have tightened all the bolts and hardware for the hood and hood latch. It will even squeak when the front doors are opened and closed. It mostly happens over rough roads. It sounds like I have a family of mice living under the hood. Some one told me that it may be the upper and lower front control are bushings. Any thoughts???

Check the ball joints as well.

I would start by hitting any grease fittings I could find and then start using aa aerosol can of white lithium grease(not WD40)and spray rubber front end components, door hinges, etc. Let me know.

Does it squeak when you turn the steering wheel left/right?

My upper ball joints were shot on my 98 (with 160K) and I replaced one of them. Should have done both, but the other felt ok a few months ago when I did it.

Anyway, mine squeaked a lot when turning the steering wheel and you would get an occasional heavy "clunk" when on rough terrain.

Sometimes the rubber stops at the front that the hood sets down on wear through the paint and get on bare metal. If they do the slightest vibrtation can make a mousey squeak just as you describe. Daub some oil on the rubbers and see if that doesn't stop it.

Or maybe rub a bar of soap on the rubber, so using oil doesn't deteriorate it.

My 2000 MGM LS had exactly the same squeak. Slamming the doors would make the noise too and driving over rough roads it would squeak constantly. It''s the rubber bumpers that the front edge of the hood rests on! I tried lubing everything and it stopped and has stayed gone when I coated the rubber bumpers with silicone AND slighty screwed them out (up) to take up hood slack. I bet new ones would be cheap and keep you squeak free for a long time if adjustment doesn''t do the trick.

sound like the old hood bumpers to me. My vote is rerplacing the bumpers or at leat adjusting them
