Got a NEW Steering Wheel Cover today! Use one?

Just wondering if anyone else uses them on their Grand Marquis.

There's such a small selection now a days. They used to have any color imaginable at the parts store, but they're so generic and/or cheesy now. I know I could shop online, but it'd be easier to pick the color and feel in person. The one I replaced was a perfect shade of maroon to match the interior. Its material ripped and the rubber was coming apart at the glue seam.

The new one is a fake black microsuede. Grippy enough not to slip, but feels cool when you let it slide back after a turn.

Of course it took me about five minutes to install it. Never any help around when I go to install one and it seems like you need ten hands to hold it from flying off while stretching it on to the wheel.


What's the coolest one you've seen or had?

my favorite are the slip over leather type (mainly cause I hate installing real leather covers... just slip on these and go). I found a beige one to match the interior of my MGM so it looks nice.

i just got a new black cover for mine, the closest thing to the dark blue interior they had.
the previous owner put a beige cover on it. (wtf? right?)

Cool, guys! The one I've got smells like paint fumes still, darn pleather/petroleum based crap. Oh well.

Do you think it'd actually increase resale value if you used one on a new car to keep the steering wheel from getting disgusting/worn?

not really. steering wheel wear generally isn't that great. Usually it's grime that builds up on the wheel and just needs to be cleaned. I say usually, because I have seen exceptions. But as a general rule, steering wheel discoloring generally doesn't devalue a car.
